Machinery & Equipment Transport Sydney
Safe, permit-managed transport for excavators, forklifts, skid steers, rollers and all construction plant — across Sydney and NSW.
Construction Plant Transport You Can Rely On
Moving machinery between job sites, from auction yards to depots, or from hire companies to project locations demands the right trailer, the right tie-down knowledge and — for over-size or over-mass loads — the right permits. Opal Towing handles all of this as a standard part of every machinery job.
We carry low-loaders and drop-deck trailers for excavators, skid steers and rollers. Forklifts and telehandlers are transported upright on step-deck or flat-top trailers with full chain and strap restraint. For over-width or over-length loads, we arrange Transport for NSW permits before any movement begins.
Whether it’s a mini excavator to a residential build or a 20-tonne tracked excavator between major civil sites — call us with the machine specs and we’ll confirm availability, quote a firm price and handle the rest.

Machinery Transport Questions
It depends on the machine’s dimensions and mass. Most compact excavators (under 5 tonne, under 2.5m wide) can be transported without a special permit on a rated trailer. Larger machines that exceed standard dimension or mass limits require an over-size or over-mass permit from Transport for NSW. We assess your machine’s specifications at quote stage and arrange any required permits on your behalf — you don’t need to deal with TfNSW directly.
The excavator self-propels up the low-loader ramps using its tracks. Once positioned, the boom is lowered to travel height, and the machine is secured with rated chains and load binders through the designated tie-down points — typically the undercarriage rails. If the machine is non-running or severely damaged, a separate machine or crane is arranged to assist loading.
Yes. We transport machinery from Sydney to Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide and regional NSW. Interstate permits are coordinated across relevant state road authorities. Transit times are typically 1–3 days for interstate destinations. Call with your machine specs and pickup/delivery locations for a tailored quote.
To provide an accurate quote we need: the machine make and model (or approximate weight and dimensions), the pickup address, the delivery address, and whether there are any site access considerations (steep grades, soft ground, overhead obstacles). The more detail you can provide, the more accurate our quote will be. Call 0423 242 242 and we’ll work through it with you.
